Sony has predicted that the PS3 will soon pass 360’s sales, according to their senior VP of marketing.

Peter Dille, the senior VP, has expressed the opinion that “[The 360] won’t be around in 10 years, so I’m very confident that we’ll pass them within that time frame”. Dille revealed to IGN that the PS3 currently has 31 million units on the market, in comparison to the 360’s 39 milion. Dille went on to say that the PS3 is “breathing down their necks” despite the Xbox’s oppurtunity to “sprint as far ahead as possible”. These are bold claims from SCEA, who up until the last winter has been lagging in 3rd place behind both the 360 and the Wii. However, their strong holiday season has brought them back into contention for the 2nd place spot, thanks to several outstanding exclusives such as Uncharted 2 and Rachet and Clank: A Crack in Time, as well as the release of the streamlined PS3 Slim.
